What happens during a speech evaluation?2023-03-20T22:41:52+00:00

We will interview parents and ask you to complete an intake form to gather details about your child. An evaluation is a 60-90 minute session where we will administer a formal language and/or articulation assessment, gather informal data as we observe your child’s behavior through play, and interview the parent.

Do I have to have a new speech evaluation if my child already has one?2023-04-13T05:53:32+00:00

No! We can use your evaluation if the information is current.

What does a speech therapy session look like?2023-04-13T05:53:18+00:00

It looks like language-rich play! Speech sound production is also targeted through the play-based therapy. The SLP will provide speech and language interventions while letting your child lead the way during play. We believe in natural, child-led, play-based therapy. We try to make each session fun and engaging for your child so that they look forward to therapy.

How long will my child be in speech therapy?2023-04-16T06:42:40+00:00

Therapy is provided for a 6 month period. At the end of 6 months, we will re-evaluate to see if your child requires another 6 months of therapy or if they are ready to be dismissed. Children can be dismissed if they master all therapy goals prior to 6 months

Will you go to daycare/preschool?2023-04-13T05:55:13+00:00

Yes! If your daycare or preschool will allow us on campus, we are happy to see your child at school. Typically, administration lets us pull the child out of class and into a spare room or the playground for our session.

Can you come to our house?2023-04-13T05:55:46+00:00

Yes! We will need a quiet space where your child will not be distracted and you are welcome to observe the last 10 minutes of session to maximize carryover.

Where is the clinic?2023-04-16T06:44:17+00:00

We are located in the Heights. We have a brand new space that has been recently remodeled; we are excited to present our office to our clients in May 2023!

Are parents involved in therapy?2023-04-16T06:43:32+00:00

Therapy duration is shorter when parents are more involved so that skills learned in therapy are carried over into the home. Please refer to our “Services” to find our recommendation on parent involvement based on your child’s age and needs.

Do you take insurance?2023-04-13T05:58:25+00:00

We are a private pay agency, meaning all services must be reimbursed at the time services are rendered. We are not accepting insurance at this time. However, services may be reimbursed by your insurance company under “out of network” speech therapy benefits. We will provide you with a superbill, which is an itemized list of services provided for your insurance company if you are seeking reimbursement.
